Our previous show told the story of the Paris Commune, the concrete utopia, the archetype of the collective. We questioned history, sought echoes in our current revolts, and questioned our common hopes. But the collective, as we know, can also lead to the worst violence.
We therefore take up Lord of the Flies by William Golding, to talk about the evolution of utopia towards dystopia, the construction of a group and its tyrannical excesses.
We invite the public to a big, publicized game, “Her Majesty,” a big game that puts people on an island in self-sufficiency. Here, they are not children like in the book, but participants. Alone, without knowing why they are there, they will have to form a society, survive, help each other, hunt, kill each other. Under the watchful eye of the spectators.
We want to address the excesses of the society of the spectacle and its impact on reality, on social organization, power, and masculinities. We want to address the possibility of a new relationship with nature, with living together, and the perilous balance between individual and community.
We want to question all this violence.
